CHIPPING Sodbury endured a difficult day across the board with all five sides losing despite some fine individual displays.

The first team came unstuck away to Bourton Vale in the WEPL’s Gloucestershire division after being dismissed for just 98.

Opener Jake Reid (27) and Mason Poole (20) were the only men to establish themselves at the crease.

And although Poole then gave Sodbury hope with two quick strikes with the ball, Vale went on to canter to a seven-wicket triumph.

Sodbury 2nds, in Division Three of the Gloucestershire County League, lost a thrilling local derby against Rockhampton by four runs.

Simon Vooght (3-55) and Tom Clay (2-14 from nine) starred as the Rams were restricted to 231- 8. And Sodbury then came agonisingly close to victory despite the efforts of Bryan Jater (66), Vooght (46) and skipper Jerry Swatton (37).

It was close, too, for Sodbury 3rds who succumbed by 18 runs at home to Bristol United Banks in Division Seven of the Bristol & District League.

Charlie Walker gave Sodbury an excellent start, dismissing both openers en route to claiming 2-35 from nine while captain Steve Febry weighed in with 3-17 from five as Banks reached 232-9.

Walker then showed her batting skills with an excellent unbeaten 63 in a Sodbury reply of 214-8, Sam Vile weighing in with 39.

Sodbury 4ths, in Division 11, slipped to a five-wicket reverse away to Pucklechurch 2nds where youngsters Jake Kirkham and Ross Womack both shone.

Kirkham was dismissed for 45 and Womack hit 44 in a total of 175 before Puckle chased down their target despite the efforts of Chris Young (1-25) and Aaron Morgan (1-40 from eight).

It was a tough day too for Sodbury 5ths who went down by four wickets away to Twyford House 3rds in Division 16.

Steve Hill and Simon Rossiter joint top scored on 23 in a below-par 124 all out, but Twyford were made to fight for their win by Alex Cumming (2-19 from six) and Ravi Mistry who bamboozled the home side with his spin- ners, claiming 2-15.
