WHAT a rollercoaster of a week it’s been for City fans.

City reigned in more shots at Rotherham’s goal last Saturday than any other team in a Championship game going back to February last year, but still only came away with a point from the New York Stadium.

City fired in 35 shots in total yet actually found themselves 2-0 down on the hour mark.

We only had ourselves to blame in truth, with Aden Flint in particular suffering a bit of a shocker for both goals.

The first was a mix-up with ‘keeper O’Donnell and the second an own goal from the centre back who lifted the ball over his bewildered teammate in the City goal.

But this City side have already shown plenty of fighting spirit this season and they showed it again as that man again Tammy Abraham smashed the ball home from close range with a little over 15 minutes to go.

City’s late equaliser came via good work from our two young Bristolians as Joe Bryan’s low cross found Bobby Reid at the far post who bundled the ball home.

From a two-goal deficit, it was a good result but had we taken our chances the game may have been as good as over by half time.

On Tuesday evening, City travelled to Hillsborough to play Sheffield Wednesday. The game was delayed by 15 minutes due to torrential rain.

When the game got going though, it was certainly no damp squib. Abraham could well turn out to be one of the most instinctive goalscorers we’ve seen at Ashton Gate in a long time.

Comparisons with Andy Cole are already being made amongst supporters and the Chelsea loanee bagged two poachers goals in the first-half to give City a 2-0 lead at half-time.

But the second-half was a horror show. Wednesday scored early in the second half but on the hour mark City had a great opportunity to take a lead that surely would have been unassailable after the home side were reduced to ten men and Tomlin stepped up to take the resultant spot kick.

Tomlin smashed the ball against the post and, as the ball made its way up the field, Gary O’Neill received a second yellow for a foul on the halfway line.

With both teams reduced to ten men, The Owls were in the ascendancy and Bannan equalised on 75 minutes with a long range effort that O’Donnell really should’ve done better with.

Then deep into stoppage time, Lee turned Flint and fired in a winner for the home side to enact a crushing defeat for City.

We will have to bounce back quickly when Derby visit Ashton Gate on Saturday (3pm) before a visit to Fulham in round 3 of the League Cup next Wednesday (7.45pm).
