ANOTHER scintillating victory saw Rovers turn on the style and move up to fifth in the League One table.

The comfortable 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic on Saturday was achieved thanks to goals from the two Chelsea loanees, Colkett and Clarke-Salter.

Darrell Clarke made five changes to the team that drew 3-3 at MK Dons last week as he continued to rotate the squad.

And there is no doubt his methods are working as the Gas turned in an accomplished performance to leave the result on Saturday beyond any doubt.

Although the Stamford Bridge duo grabbed the headlines, the whole team played their part and we look strong in all positions.

Colkett gave Rovers the lead with a powerful shot in the 25th minute as we dominated long spells of the game.

There were some brief moments of Oldham pressure but goalkeeper Roos was up to the task and averted the danger in each case.

The Gas were in control and the only disappointment was that we had to wait until the 87th minute to be sure of the points when Clarke-Salter headed in.

Clarke praised the team spirit after the game and there is no doubt the positive atmosphere he has forged at the club has played a big part in our recent success, as well as the quality of players he has recruited.

It was the first clean sheet in the league so far this season and if we can keep it tight at the back, we always look capable of scoring with the firepower up front and creativity in midfield.

The Lines, Sinclair and Colkett triumvirate in midfield looks particularly effective as they all have different strengths which complement each other’s game.

We are now unbeaten in four games and although it is too early to get too carried away, to be fifth after 14 games is a magnificent achievement.

Rovers will be looking to continue the unbeaten run and put more points on the board with two home games coming up.

Peterborough visit the Mem on Saturday before the rearranged game with Fleetwood takes place next Tuesday.
