GUY FAWKES’ weekend saw Dursley’s Running Club’s athletes out in force.

Saturday morning, Graeme Hawkins ran the fastest parkrun of the weekend at Kingsway, with an impressive 22:22, (1st MV65).

Jo Fearns and Luci Lai both ran personal bests, with Julie Froggatt close to her best and first VW50.

Later that day, the second Gloucestershire AAA cross country league event took place at Blackbridge with Margaret Johnson and Deb Peak the sole representatives.

Johnson ran well, placing an impressive 5th FV50. Peake was just 13 seconds behind Johnson.

Mike Crompton and James Everett led the men's race, with Crompton home first for DRC.

Wooldridge was the best placed in category, fifth MV60.

Dursley finished 17th in both the Open and Masters team event.

ELEVEN athletes from Dursley running club took part.

Dave Durden benefited from the pace setting of Arthur Daly from Gloucester AC to return home first for DRC.

Chris Sweet was next home with Darren Richards third placed DRC runner.

Caroline Jones first DRC woman home and 3rd LV35 best placed in category for DRC.

Dave Saunders finished in 37:28 and was 4th MV56.

Nicola Cowle was an impressive 12th FV40, Annette Heylings and Eileen Hieron paced each other around Helyngs 10th FV60 and Hieron 2nd FV70, with just four seconds between them on the line.

Carolyn Thraves and Karen Eadon both put good efforts in on the day.
