GUIDING Forest Green through an unbeaten October and to the top of the table was not enough to see Mark Cooper win the National League Manager of the Month gong.

Cooper missed out to Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley and insisted he was not interested in personal glory.

“I don’t really care,” said Cooper. “It is the GM Vauxhall Conference people again who decide it and that is up to them - I’m not in for awards and I let the players do the talking on the pitch.”

However, Cooper feels Rovers’ progress and financial backing is provoking resentment.

He added: “When I played for Forest Green, everybody loved the little club on the hill, but now there is a lot of antagonism towards Forest Green, but that is fine and that happens when you have a wealthy owner.”

Meanwhile, Cooper is now the bookies' favourite to take the vacant managerial post at League One MK Dons.
