Thornbury 2nds 1 Clifton Robinsons 5th 2

A GAME between two evenly matched sides saw the visitors snatch a late goal to gain a 2-1 victory.

Emma Matthews shone for the home side in defence with an excellent all round performance.

Captain Sarah Brealey along with president Angela Greenslade and Cerys Allen were more than a match for the visitors whose attacks frequently came to nothing because of the sound defending.

Larley Staton continues to progress in goal again pulling off a number of saves to deny the visitors.

The Taylor sisters continue to display promise with Lou Lou contributing some nice touches in midfield and Jess roaming effectively to supply Sarah Lally and Molly Smith with defence splitting passes.

It was only because Clifton Robinsons had the services of a highly experienced keeper that Thornbury did not score more goals.

The Thornbury goal were scored by Under 14 captain Jess Wilson on her senior league debut.

This goal was the first that Clifton Robinsons had conceded this season.

Sarah Brealey’s side host Wick seconds on Saturday at Castle School 10.30am.

Meanwhile, Thornbury firsts narrowly went down 1-0 at Avonmouth in a tight game.

Jen Arnold’s side visit Bristol and West on Saturday hoping to return to winning ways.

Thornbury Under-14 play Chippenham on Sunday in an Avon league match with captain Wilson hoping to continue her goal scoring form.
