IT was a tough night for two Cam sides in the Stroud and District League.

In Division Two, Bob Waters scored a max for Phoenix C which enabled them to leave Cam A with a 7-3 victory.

And Cam B also found it difficult in division three as they struggled to get going.

Cam B had to go on the road but found that Randwick C produced a strong performance to beat the visitors 8-2, with Roger Dickenson and Ralph Perry recording maximums for Randwick C in the match.

Elsewhere in the division, Phoenix F recorded a comfortable 9-1 victory against a weakened Thornbury C, Sam McIvor and Jon Ramsbotham took advantage of the situation and returned maximums for the home side.

And maximums from John Bunn and Barry Morgan helped Woodchester C defeat the visiting Phoenix D 8-2.

Meanwhile, in Division Four, Cam C and Nailsworth C shared the points at five apiece but Nigel Meredith was unbeaten scoring a maximum for the home side.

Phoenix H moved to the top of the table after leaving Nailsworth B with a 7-3 victory, thanks in part to a Chris Hampton hat-trick.

In the league’s other division, Thornbury A have taken a commanding lead at the top of the first league after beating their closest contenders, Forest Green A on their home turf.

Maximums from Dave Reeves and Anthony Kent ensured the visitors came away with a 7-3 win.

Phoenix A went down 3-7 at home to Woodchester B with Clive Ellison finishing as man of the match for the visitors with a maximum..

Phoenix B were edged out 4-6 at home to Yate but with Liwu Wei unbeaten in singles for the home side.

Woodchester A had a comfortable 8-2 victory over the visiting Frampton B.
