BRISTOL Rovers will be without Derby County goalkeeper Kelle Roos after his parent club recalled him from his loan spell at the Memorial Stadium this week.

Kelle joined Rovers, on a season-long loan in August and made his debut on August 27 in a League One match against Swindon Town.

However that match was abandoned after an hour, due to a waterlogged pitch, with the score at 0-0 and the record books will show that he actually made his league debut for Rovers in the home game against Rochdale on 10th September 2016.

Following a run of 21 games, in all competitions, for the club he lost his place to Will Puddy for the game against Bury in early December and has spent the last six games on the bench.

He returns to iPRO Stadium where the manager who made him his first signing for The Rams, Steve McLaren, has returned for a second spell in charge.

“I would like to thank Kelle for his efforts for us during his loan spell,” said manager Darrell Clarke today, “and I wish him every success for the future.”

Tall, dominant and a powerful kicker, Roos had initially joined PSV at the age of 13 after playing for three separate clubs in Nijmegen. He conceded just six goals in nine Conference matches with Nuneaton Town, his five clean sheets including one on his début against Chester City.

Another clean sheet marked his first start with Derby County, five cup ties proving the extent of his experience before he was sent out on various loan spells.

Roos conceded ten goals for bottom of the table Championship side Rotherham United, but enjoyed far more success with AFC Wimbledon, where he played against Rovers at The Mem in March 2016 and at Wembley two months later, as his side defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in the play-off final to join Rovers in promotion to League One.
