Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West

Swindon Supermarine 2 Slimbridge 0

FREDDY Ward watched his last match as Slimbridge caretaker manager before taking up the role permanently on Tuesday night but it was the same old story as the Swans crashed to a seventh Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West in eight matches on Tuesday night.

Two Connor Waldron goals were enough for ten-man Swindon Supermarine to secure the victory, meaning Slimbridge continue on their fruitless run which now stretches to almost two months since their 3-1 home win over Yate Town at Thornhill Park in mid-November.

Waldon scored either side of the break as Slimbridge suffered again.

In a game short of opportunities, it took until the 30th minute before Connor Johns was called into action in the home goal, diving well to his left to deny Slimbridge skipper Lee Smith.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Brad Hooper saw his ball into the box deflected and sit up nicely for Waldon to control before beating Adam Thompson with a volley.

The visitors had the chance to go into the break level when a mix up at the back post gave Marley Thomas a half chance, but he fired wide from close range.

Supermarine’s Joe Shephard was sent off for stamp, on Sam Turl, but another Waldron goal seal it.
