Fairford Town 5 Tytherington Rocks 1

TYTHERINGTON Rocks came away from Fairford Town on Saturday beaten by the side who are top the table and are champions elect.

Manager Dan Gillespie went into this game short of five first team players due to injuries and one suspension.

However, in the first ten minutes of the game, they missed three good chances to change the eventual outcome when the home defence was caught out leaving the home keeper exposed.

Rocks striker Pat Boyd blazed two over the bar and Ollie Price`s low shot from the right just missed the far post, after this Fairford started a long spell of attacking and took the lead from a corner on the left headed firmly into the net by Levi Cox.

Fairford went further in front with an identical goal by Lee Smith on 30 minutes to put them two up..

Following this goal Rocks defender Tom Watkins suffered a serious injury to his right foot and took no further part in the game, this brought on their only sub manager Dan Gillespie for the remainder of the game and seriously weakened the defense.

In the 30th minute the home side went further ahead when full back Chris Jackson scored with a low drive giving Rocks keeper Adam Clark no chance, with the home side reaching half time well in charge.

The second half was only fifteen minutes gone when Lee Smith got his second goal from close in and he completed his well taken hat trick five minutes later when Rocks gave the ball away in midfield.

With twenty minutes to go Rocks were awarded a penalty when Will Harries was brought down and Jamel Fisher scored low to the keepers left to complete the scoring for the game.

Despite the score Rocks battled away and put in a good team performance with keeper Adam Clark pulling off five superb saves and he was made man of the match by the opposition team, with really outstanding defending at times by the back four.

Rocks are away on Saturday 4th March against Milton KO 3.00pm.
