Gloucestershire County Women’s League Division One
Bristol & West Ladies 1 Dursley Town Ladies 1
YAZMIN Laver fired a second-half equaliser as Dursley came from behind to claim a point from a scrappy encounter against a typically dogged Bristol & West outfit.
The match was switched from Bristol to the Rec at late notice, but it was West that had the better of the first period as a strong wind pinned Town into their own half.
Indeed, Dursley were grateful to goalkeeper Stephanie Hill for a number of saves, the best of which saw a well-struck 20-yard drive turned against the post.
However, West eventually made the breakthrough on the half-hour, although the turnaround brought a change of momentum as the wind continued to affect matters.
The equaliser arrived on the hour mark when Alex Gwyther’s persistence earned an opportunity for Laver and she scored with a powerful effort from the edge of the box.
Dursley were unable to create any chances to win the game and the performances of defenders Ros Rocke and Kirsty Brown were more notable late on.
Dursley: S Hill; R Rocke, C Gabb, K Brown; Z Gabb, V Mansell, M Watson, S Lawrence, Y Laver; A Gwyther, S Stanley. Rolling substitutes: E Allen, R Allen, S Drew, C Trinder.
Goals: Laver (60).
* Dursley Town Ladies would like to thank the Royal Oak in Wotton-under-Edge for their new away kit.
