THE LAST weekend of February saw Dursley Running Club athlete Kate Browning at the Betteshanger Country Park, near Deal in East Kent for the 100 Marathon Club AGM marathon.

The park has a two mile tarmac cycle track and this was used for the event.

So if the physical conditioning to run 26.2 miles was not enough, then the mental strength to run almost 13 laps was an added requirement.

She completed the course in 17th place and a time of three hours 48mins, first woman home.

Kate then followed this up with a marathon on the following day coming in just under four hours, 29th overall and second woman.

It was a fantastic effort by Kate meaning she has now run 49 marathons and almost halfway to becoming a member of the 100 Marathon Club.

It was very much a family affair with Garry and Tracey Strickland running with Stave and Jude Rugman. Garry Strickland ran an impressive time, given the conditions and his 5K run of the previous day, of just over 43 minutes.
