Stroud League Table Tennis round-up

Division 1:

THORNBURY A retain their crown as division one champions by completing an unbeaten season and winning the title by 22 points from runners up, Forest Green A.

Woodchester B finisher their league campaign in a creditable third position and drew their last match, against Frampton A, Clive Ellison was man of the match and recorded a max for Woodchester at home. Phoenix A finished in their highest ever position as captain Laurence Manley scored a maximum in the 6-4 victory away to Frampton B.

Two player Yate went down 3-7 at home to Forest Green A, Ben Glover was unbeaten on the night for the Green.

Cirencester and Phoenix B shared the spoils at five all with LiWu Wei claiming another max for the visiting Phoenix team.

Division 2:

Randwick A are clear winners of division two and they also went through the season unbeaten with a clear 18 points margin over second placed Thornbury B.

Whiteshill A and Phoenix C both finished on 100 points in third and fourth positions. In their last match Whiteshill A beat the visiting Nailsworth A 8-2 with Steve Greening scoring a max, while Phoenix C, in their last match, they lost 4-6 at home to two player Frampton C. David Metcalfe returned a maximum for the visitors.

Whiteshill B whitewashed the relegated Randwick B with Chris Varley, Steve Partridge and Paul Hopgood all unbeaten.

Cam A improved their chances of staying up when they came away from Forest Green B with a 6-4 win, Harry Prescott was man of the match as he scored a max for the visitors.

Division 3:

It was a closer race in division three but in the end Phoenix F head the table by eight points from Woodchester C. In their final match, Phoenix F beat their E team club mates 8-2 with Sam McIvor leading his side from the front with a maximum.

The following night Woodchester C came away from Cam B with a comfortable 9-1 victory thanks to maximums from Barry Morgan and John Bunn, but by this time the title was out of their reach. Phoenix D lost 4-6 at home to the visiting Randwick D for whom Jim Hurford scored a max.

Randwick C lost 3-7 at home to Whiteshill C who had Neil Wilkins to thank for a max. And in a busy couple of nights for Whiteshill, the following night their season was concluded with a 6-4 victory over the visiting two players from Woodchester D, Colin Bruton was man of the match as he scored three wins for Woodchester.

Division 4:

Frampton D won division four by ten points over runners up, Forest Green C. The Frampton team completed their season with a 6-4 victory over the visiting Cam C but it was the visitors George Thomas who finished as man of the match with a maximum. Fred Donald led the Phoenix G team to a convincing 7-3 win against their H team club mates scoring a max in his man of the match performance.

Nailsworth C and Forest Green C shared the spoils at five apiece but the visitors Alex Edwards was man of the match with a max. Forest Green D lost 3-7 at home to the visiting Nailsworth B with Alun Davies scoring a hat trick for the away side.
