TWO first half goals from Thornbury Town put Southmead CS Athletic on the back foot with an uphill struggle ahead.
The opening goal in the 17th minute came from a long punt by the Thornbury keeper Sheppard and Will Howard latched onto the ball to make it 1-0.
In the 25th minute the home side were caught out again by the long ball over the top and this time Craig Lancastle made it two.
A third goal on the hour mark virtually sewed the game up for Thornbury when Danny Haines hit a 25 yard shot that struck the upright on its way in.
