A WEEKEND for Dursley Running Club with so many highlights it is difficult to know where to start.

At the Chedworth Roman Trail on Sunday, James Everett came home third overall just seconds behind second runner home.

He ran the undulating 10 mile course in just over sixty-four minutes, demonstrating his class.

A great turnout from DRC saw thirteen runners taking part, with Fran Amigoni leading the DRC women home, and was 6th senior Woman. DRC had another good showing in the age categories; Alice Lewis 2nd F55, Eileen Hieron 3rd F65 and David Durden 4th MV50.

Saturday saw three members of DRC’s Tri-Section putting their training into action at the Newbury Duathlon, a run, bike run event.

Charley Palmer brought the team home placing an impressive 8th F40, with John Hookway chasing her down on the bike, but he could not compete either on the run or with Palmers silky smooth transition times.

Julie Furneaux was the third of the DRC trio doing well on an extremely hot day.

Palmer followed this up by travelling over to the Kymin Dash on the Sunday The Dash is a challenging and very scenic 7.1 mile race, straight up to the top of the Kymin above Monmouth, and back down on a long scenic loop of the Wye Valley Palmer paced her husband over the route finishing in one hour twenty-four minutes.

Sunday saw Richard Pitts and Laura Price at the last event in the Tewkesbury Aquathlon with Pitts producing a personal best to end the series (results tbc).

The weekend saw two DRC athletes running marathons in the heat.

Kate Browning doubled up running the Pewsey Downaround Ultra on Saturday and the Bath Beat trail Marathon on Sunday, Damian Lai made a circuitous journey to the Paris Marathon, and despite the heat ran a personal best of just over one minute to finish in a 04:14:25 Running in the cool of Saturday morning helped a number of DRC parkrunners secure PBs.

Neil Hodgson ran a sub 18 minutes parkrun best placing second at Hartlepool, with a very impressive 78% age grading, Peter Chaffer was next quickest over the week end running a PB at the off road Wotton event, coming how 4th, Zoe Lammerton who continues to show excellent form, was not far behind him and was first woman home.
