EASTER Sunday morning saw three Dursley Running Club athletes on the start line of the Bitton Road Runners “Hanham Horror” in Bristol, making up the 250 entrants.

The 9km race is mainly off road with several steep ascents and descents of the Avon Valley river gorge, including one climb with a rope to assist the runners.

As the good weather continued conditions were ideal and underfoot it was very firm and dry for the time of year.

Two hundred and forty eight finished the race with Dave Wood first home for Dursley in 43:09mins placing 22nd and an impressive third MV50.

Husband and wife pair Julie and Steve Easthope battled it out over the challenging terrain for family honours. Steve Easthope finished in 57:58mins (28th MV40) and Julie Easthope finished in one hour 07:38mins (37th SenW).

Easter Saturday had seen 45 Dursley Running Club members at a variety of parkruns across the country.

Neil Hodgson continued his good form and was again fastest of the weekend.

Thomas Smith was first home at Wotton where Alice Lewis again posted an impressive personal best and an age grading of almost 82 percent.

Fran Amigoni was just behind Lewis coming home second SW30 at her first attempt on the course.

At Chipping Sodbury, a large Dursley RC turn out celebrated Tracey Strickland and Jude Rugman’s 50th parkruns.

Garry Strickland was first home registering an age grade of 71 percent to celebrate his wife’s achievement. Lise Hindshaw ran a PB to come home first VW40, with Louise Bidell just behind also running a best place fourth VW35.

Conditions were clearly conducive to fast times with a host of personal bests at all venues, with DRC again well represented in the age category positions, with a number of juniors from past DRC summer programmes running well.
