Thornbury 2nds 190-8 beat Gloucester City Winget 2nds 108 ao by 82 runs

A brilliant knock from David Hammond was the backbone of Thornbury seconds victory over Gloucester City Winget on Saturday in Gloucestershire County League Division Two.

The win was also Thornbury’s first victory from three league games so far.

Thornbury were put into bat by Gloucester City Winget and opener Hammond made the visitors pay for their decision as he hammered a tremendous century, eventually leaving the crease with 132 under his belt.

There were some other contributions to the total of 190-8 that Thornbury set their opponents.

And when Gloucester City Winget went to the middle, they struggled with the Thornbury attack.

Greg Mallitte was the best of Thornbury’s bowlers with three wickets, while Paul Wookey, John Wormwell and Alex Allen took two wickets apiece.

Only three Gloucester City Winget batsmen managed to reach double figures as their struggles continued.

Eventually they were all out for just 108 inside 29 overs.
