GLOUCESTERSHIRE head coach Richard Dawson watched his side slump to lose twenty wickets inside two days and admitted Nottinghamshire ‘never let us off the hook’.
Nottinghamshire scored a convincing victory over Gloucestershire, with a day to spare.
Nottinghamshire batted well through the first day and into day two and reached 430 for nine before declaring.
In reply, Gloucestershire were 149 all out in 44.1 overs.
Dawson wanted his team to take the match into the final day but, following on, Gloucestershire could not respond and were dismissed for a second time on Sunday, on this occasion for 231.
It left Nottinghamshire to celebrate victory by an innings and 50 runs.
The head coach said: “I’ve just said to our boys that to compete in four-day cricket, you’ve got to do two things well.
“You’ve got to be able to put pressure on with the ball and to be able to handle pressure with the bat, when you are up against it.
“They did it much better than us and that’s very much as simple as it gets. They never let us off the hook.”
