GLOUCESTER Haresfield 5K took place on Wednesday evening in very hot & humid conditions.

It turned out to be a very successful event for DRC runners with 5 medals awarded as part of the Glos AAA series including three Golds, and everyone picking up points in their categories.

Mike Brown’s improvement continues and he ran an impressive 19:33, Dursley veterans impressed with Dave Saunders, Soos Moss and Eileen Hieron picking up gold medals on the night.

On the same night 25 DRC members were on the start line for the Westonbirt Arboretum 10km.

It was only slightly cooler under the trees and the second half was gruelling. Fran Amigoni continued her strong run of results and was first DRC runner home in 48:29, Neil Truelove first DRC man just behind her.

A few even managed course PBs but overall everyone was just happy to finish and cool down.

Twenty eight DRC parkrunners ran at the weekend. Thomas Smith ran a personal best to come home first for DRC and fastest over the weekend with an impressive 19:05 at Wotton, making him the quickest DRC runnier on this course. Shona Darley, Andrew Eades and Eileen Hieron also ran PBs at Wotton.

Neil Hodgson ran a brisk 18:51 parkrun the day before he completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 03:17:57, he was aiming for 03:15 but a tight ITB caused him to slow down in the final. The previous week Sue Peachy travelled to Cumbria to take part in the Windermere marathon y finishing a challenging course in 04:26.
