THIRTY athletes from the DRC TRI team, 18 of whom in their first ever triathlon, competed at the Atwell Martin Lettings Westonbirt Triathlon on Bank Holiday Monday.

The newly formed tri team competed in a field of 441 which saw the athletes swim 400m, cycle 25K and run 5K around the grounds of Westonbirt School.

Mike Brown was first home for Dursley RC TRI in a very impressive one hour ten minutes, which gave him a brilliant position of 21st overall and 12th in age category. Tony Freer was close behind in second place in one hour 13 mins, 30th overall and a very respectable sixth in his age category.

Carl Fivey was third home in one hour 15 mins and 21st in his age category.

In the ladies race Tara Truman was first woman home for DRC TRI in one hour 17 mins giving her eighth fastest women and third in her age category.

Zoe Lamerton was second in one hour 23 mins and 10th in her category, closely followed in third place by Lyn Murray in one hour 26 mins and third in age category.
