IT was a very busy and productive week for Dursley Running Club.

Starting with the main event –The Dursley Peaks – last Wednesday.

Race director Graeme Hawkins could be very satisfied with a full entry list of one hundred runners.

With Dursley RC’s Dan Anderson out injured, hopes of a victory for the club rested on the shoulders of James Everett.

James leapt up the hills, clearly enjoying the terrain, finishing in 44:33mins, over two minutes in front of Steve Kenyon, from Team Polash, with Sam Moppett in third.

The women ‘s race was run by Tegan Hooper, of Stroud, ahead team-mate Christina Horak and Tabitha Collins of Bitton Road Runners.

Sam Martin placed fifth senior woman and was first lady home for DRC. Behind James Everett there were a number of strong runs from DRC.

Jonny Marks was sixth overall, Shona Darley, Tony Wool and Karen Eadon walking away with category prizes.

Steve Watson was second, Pete Peter Chaffer, Annette Keevil and Paul Lewington were third and Charley Palmer fouth in their categories.

The night before, six DRC athletes were at the Aztec West Fast 5K.

The weather condition were significantly more benign than the previous month but the back straight had a significant headwind on it.

Dave Durden was pleased to improve his pacing from the March event and came home first for Dursley RC. Mark Sprigings was second DRC man home just in front of Jon Tudor, the latter is putting together some really consistent performances at Aztec.

Alice Lewis and Tony Wooldridge as ever impressive with second in their categories, Claire Seale pulled up injured leaving Julie Froggatt pushing for home on her own whilst Hieron swept up for DRC.

It was welcome back to Neil Hodgson at Kingsway, who cruised around in 18:45mins just ten seconds off his course best, recording DRC’s fastest parkrun of the weekend.

Behind him at Kingsway Richard Pitts, Shona Darley and Anne Harris all impressed with their age grading, with Darley still very consistent off her marathon training.

Mike Thomas and Andy Hara posted PBs at Kingsway.

The summer is helping plenty of Wotton PBS with Mark Brasier leading the team home in 19:09mins, another excellent run around this testing course and a personal best, with Garry Strickland, Paul Lewington, Lise Hindshaw and Veronica Higgins also achieving PBs.

Pete Wintle and Sam Stevens ran close to PBs at Kingsway.

Sunday saw six DRC athletes at the Fairford 10K, part of the clubs own Road Race series.

Mike Crompton took points with a sub 37-minute run, with Fran Amigoni an impressive fourth senior woman.

Another solid run from Jon Tudor was eclipsed by his father’s performance Graham Tudor 3rd M60, Alice Lewis and Elieenn Hieron also placing 3rd in their categories. Another great set of performances by DRC runners
