FOREST Green Rovers will face Barnet in their first ever fixture in the Football League on Saturday August 5 following the release of the EFL fixture list this morning.

And fans can book the dates of November 25 and April 14 firmly in their diaries as that is when Forest Green will have their Gloucestershire derbies with Cheltenham Town.

Barnet will travel to The New Lawn on the opening day of the season, with Rovers first away fixture taking place a week later on Saturday August 12 against Mansfield Town.

The Mansfield game will see defender Lewis Collins playing against his old club after he joined Rovers from Mansfield last month.

Forest Green will have a tough September in which they face last year's National League champions Lincoln City plus relegated League One opposition in Port Vale and a juicy clash with Swindon Town.

Boxing Day will see a trip down to Exeter City’s St James’ Park, meanwhile New Year’s Day is all set for a home clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

Forest Green will also have cross-border derbies with Welsh side Newport County SAturday October 14 at the New Lawn and away at Rodney Parade on Saturday February 10.

The season will end with a home tie on the final day against the club’s 2016 National League promotion final opponents Grimsby Town.
