COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club played host to the regional professionals at their annual Pro Am.

Teams of three amateurs played with a Pro in a stroke play team competition and the Pro’s played for their own separate prize.

Pro Mike Watson from Wessex Golf Centre equalled the course record with a six-shot under par gross 65 followed by Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge) 67 and George Ryall (Burnham and Berrow) 68.

The junior team of Ali Buncher, Hannah Brown-Pearce and Tom Cranwell with home Pro Kristian Crane won the team competition with a very impressive 18 under par nett score of 124 ahead of Baldwins Accountants 126 and F W Morgan 128.

Representatives from the captain’s charity, MacMillan Cancer Support handed out mementos to all competitors on the first tee and everyone enjoyed a good meal afterwards followed by the presentation of prizes.

The Seniors Open proved a great success with over 80 pairs taking part in the stableford competition. There were prizes for both visiting and home teams and the winners from each both scored 45 points.

Visitor winners: Nigel Bailey & Robert Thompson (Thornbury) 45, Mike Summers & Doug Sanderson (Wrag Barn) and Neil Tothill (MInchinhampton) & Jim Calleja (Chipping Sodbury) both on 44; Home teams: John Wright & Tom Baird 45, Roger Moss & Graham Hopkins 44 and Tony Wheeler & Willie Cruickshank 43.

The NGFL team won at home against Stinchcombe 4.5-1.5 whilst the ‘B’ Team were less fortunate losing away at Stinchcombe 4-2.

The Mixed Team welcomed visitors from Lilley Brook for a new fixture between the clubs and were delighted at their home win 4-2.
