Gloucestershire (18pts) 138-103 (4pts) Warwickshire

Gloucestershire women remain top their group in the Johns Trophy after a comprehensive performance against Warwickshire winning by 35 shots 138-103 at Falcon B.C.

Gloucestershire opened up a commanding 63-44 lead after the halfway stage before upping a gear to move 109-61 ahead five ends later. Still 40 shots ahead with three ends to play they ended up with four winning rinks.

They must now wait to see the outcome of Devon who still have Warwickshire and Worcestershire to play.

The winning rinks came from Fran Stockford (Olveston), Rita Gerry (Moreton), Julia Stannard (Nailsworth) and Lindsay Collin (Page Park) who up against M. Edwards leapt into a 17-3 lead after just 10 ends and never looked back. Piling on the shots the rink was 28-4 ahead after 15 ends and galloped away to win by a massive 36-7.

Jenny Westlake (Arrow), Myra Savage (Falcon), Pauline Gunn and Kay Gent (both Caer Glow) up against M. Parsons went from 7-6 ahead to jump into a 21-6 lead five ends later. Grabbing another three shots late on they ended up with a 24-13 win.

Val Osmond (Ardagh), Pat Baker (Kingswood & Hanham), Ann White (Arrow) and Rachel Hughes (Royal Forest of Dean) were level at 12-12 after 10 ends and 17-17 after 15 ends with S.Hornsby before gaining five shots without reply in the next three ends and going onto win 23-20.

Sally Rolls, Chris Prosser, Gill Fry (all Gloucester Spa) and Jeanette Scott (Cheltenham) against M.Timms in close encounter trailed by two shots before taking a one shot lead after 15 ends. Behind by two shots 20-18 they won two out of the last three ends to clinch a 23-21 win.

Val Molton, (Kingswood & Hanham), Penny Callagan (Redland Green) Jacky Howes (Stroud) and Iona Bird (Barnwood) having taken a three shot advantage over J.Corn 10-7 at the halfway stage then leapt into a 19-10 lead however the shots dried-up and losing six consecutive ends they went down to a 21-19 defeat.

Val Major (Churchdown), Pat MacGregor (Arrow), Sue Osborne (Kingswood & Hanham) and Joy Sheward (Barnwood) who up against P.Moore went from leading 8-5 to be just a shot behind after 15 ends however they could only manage another four shots and trailed 21-13 at the end.
