GLOUCESTERSHIRE captain Phil Mustard could not recall a game like it as his side dispatched Glamorgan in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two within two days.

The bizarre match saw 25 wickets fall on Monday, with both teams all out in their first innings – Glamorgan, batting first, making 117 and Gloucestershire replying with 141 – before Glamorgan had five wickets down for 59 at the close.

The Welsh county eventually recovered to add another 99 runs to their overnight score on Tuesday but that set Gloucestershire an easy target of 135 to win which they did without loss, with Thornbury’s Chris Dent hitting a half-century to help.

Mustard has been around the block a few times in cricket, but he said: "Cricket is a funny game and I have to say, I have never been involved in a game quite like that.”

There was a concern that the Cheltenham College pitch may have to be reported on day one but Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson and Glamorgan counterpart Robert Croft said it was more about the ineptitude of their own batsmen and nothing to do with the crease.

Mustard added: "To be honest, the scores might not suggest it, but the pitch was fine.

"I thought our bowlers bowled well as a team and we have got the job done. That is pleasing. It sets us up and pulls things together for the T20."
