AN INNINGS of 94 from Cam captain Jake Dolbear led his team to victory over Tetbury at Everlands on Saturday.

Dolbear’s innings took Cam to a respectable total of 203-7 off their 45 overs, before Peter Hall took centre stage, claiming five wickets to help bundle out Tetbury for just 86.

Cam’s innings started well with Dolbear and Ryan Western putting together a solid opening partnership.

When Western (27) was run out by Jonathan Hoddy, Stuart Newman followed soon after for just one.

With Dolbear at the wicket the score continued to tick along smoothly but the home side were unable to exert complete dominance with wickets falling at regular intervals.

Benjamin Holloway (12), James Seal (18), Peter Hall (10) and Adam Holloway (10) all reached double figures but failed to push on.

Tom Hancock remained unbeaten on 11 not out when the innings ended, with Tetbury requiring 204 for victory.

The away side started their run chase in a positive fashion with James Westhead (26) and Michael Baverstock (14) forming a solid opening stand.

However, the introduction of Hall soon saw an end to the opening stand and he proceeded to rip the heart out of the Tetbury batting line-up.

In an unusual turn of events Hall claimed Baverstock, Jamie Ponting and Hoddy caught and bowled before removing James Meacham and Ryan Leather in a more traditional manner.

Hall received terrific bowling support from Benjamin Holloway who claimed three wickets for just 19 runs in his nine over spell.

Hancock and William Hayward also took one wicket apiece in a very impressive team performance.

Cam have now won 11 of 13 matches with just one abandoned and one defeat. They sit at the top of the table 47 points clear of Poulton who are in second place.

The table toppers will travel to Gloucester City Winget this weekend as they continue their promotion push.

l Elsewhere Cam 2nd XI were convincingly beaten by Down Hatherly 1st XI, the 3rd XI had their match abandoned against King’s Stanley 2nd XI while the 4th XI were also defeated at home to Stroud 4th XI.
