COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club saw a good entry for their Junior Open this week with some very impressive under par scores being returned.

Liam Spencer from The Manor GC, carded a 72 to win the Boy’s Gross trophy and Alexandra Sadler, from Tidworth Garrison GC, won the Girl’s Gross trophy with 80).

Ryan Jones, from Bowood GC, won the Boy’s nett with 69 from Alistair Curnock 70 and Jamie Berry 70 both from Minchinhampton GC. Jessica Atwell (Llanwern GC) won the Girl’s nett with 69 ahead of Chloe Lloyd 70.

The higher handicappers took part in a stableford competition which was won by James Austen from Chipping Sodbury GC with 43 points. The ladies section were treated to a lovely sunny day for their Cream Tea competition.

Teams of three, with a draw for parters, competed in a bowmaker format before enjoying a cream tea with sandwiches and home made cakes in the Clubhouse. Alison Ancrum, Philippa Charlick and Debbie Pringle took the honours with 74 stableford points followed by Gill Kelly, Dottie Chilton and Heather Morgan 73 and Jan Pemberton-James, Dee Allen and Lyn Smart 72.

The August Medal was well supported with several under par scores being carded.

Results: Division 1: Rob Walker nett 69, Keith Stokes 70 & John Leighton 72; Division 2: Mark Covell 62, Roger Moss 64 and Dave Munn 71; Division 3: Pete Greatbach 63, Colin Weston 71 & Ian Standbrook 72; Ladies EWGA Medal: Julie Blackmore 73, Catherine Beale 76 and Liz Stokes 79.

The Ladies Alliance teams had mixed fortunes with the 1st team winning 10-4 at home to Ross on Wye whilst the second team had the reverse result away to Cotswold Hills thirds.
