ROVERS secured their first league win of the season with a magnificent 3-2 victory at Bury on Saturday.

Darrell Clarke made a few changes to the starting line-up, selecting Slocombe in goal, Ollie Clarke in midfield and Partington at right-back.

The rest of the team was unchanged from the side that was convincingly beaten by Peterborough the previous week as the players went out with a point to prove.

And they made no mistake in dispelling any doubts about their credentials as they overpowered and outplayed big-spending Bury in a convincing performance.

Despite having most of the play, we had to wait until the second-half before going ahead as captain Lockyer celebrated his 200th game for the Gas by heading home in the 55th minute from a Brown corner.

The one-way traffic continued as Bodin continued his fine form with a brace to give the Pirates a commanding advantage.

He showed the full repertoire of his skills with a powerful header in the 73rd minute followed by some neat footwork in the 85th to put Rovers 3-0 up.

The contest was all over but it was disappointing that we switched off towards the end and conceded two late goals.

However, it was an excellent away victory in which we racked up 26 shots to move us away from the foot of the table.

Rovers rounded off a successful week with a stunning win at Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

We got off to a great start as Harrison rounded the keeper in the 13th minute to give the Gas the lead.

The players performed superbly for the rest of the game to hold onto that advantage and see us through to the next round.

The Pirates go in search of back to back league wins on Saturday as Fleetwood Town are the visitors to the Mem.

The Cod Army just missed out on promotion last season after making the play-offs and are sure to offer another tough test, but Rovers, high on confidence from an excellent week, are capable of securing all three points.
