YATE Hockey Club kickstarted the 2017-18 season with their annual #HockeyFest day at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex on Saturday.

The day started with the Ladies first XI hosting Cardiff Met for their first pre-season game ahead of league starting in two weeks time.

The game was supported by a great atmosphere from the sideline and six of the junior members who volunteered as 'Ball Patrol', gaining some excellent experience of game management to support their hockey journey.

Following the ladies game the club entertained the juniors with a mixed tournament and followed this up with the adults tournament.

Around one players enjoyed the hockey action throughout the day with more of our hockey family taking part in the days events.

Outside of the hockey pitch, visitors to the day enjoyed a range of activities such as Hockey Pong, a bouncy castle, raffle and the superb BBQ!

Each year the club donates a portion of money raised to their chosen charity which this year is Teenage Cancer Trust, selected in loving memory and celebration of Tom Child who was sadly lost earlier this year.

We had glorious weather for over one hundred members and supporters of the club who came to Yate Outdoor Sports Complex to enjoy the day, with £400 being donated to the charity from this event alone.

The day was a great success and a fantastic way to start the 2017-18 adventure.
