THORNBURY A travelled to Redland A who were snapping at their heels in the Prem A table.

Brad Jenkins started proceedings narrowly missing out in thrilling match losing 3-2 and number one string Sam Davidson was also just pipped to the post after an outstanding display also losing 3-2.

The theme continued with Alex McMillan losing his match in yet another gruelling 3-2 loss.

Callum Davidson withdrew from his match due to injury, so it was left to unbeaten Craig Webb to salvage the only win of the night for Thornbury, the final match score being 17-9 which leaves Thornbury second in the league after four games.

Thornbury B team played away at Chew Valley for a must win fixture to keep their hopes of winning Division One alive.

They didn't disappoint on the night taking the overall match 18-7. There were strong 3-0 wins for Mark Toseland (number one) and Justin Edwards (number three) on the night.

Rob Livingstone (number four) had the opportunity to win his match 3-1 being 8-2 up in the fourth game but his opponent played extremely well to turn the match around to win 3-2.

Dale Curtis (number five) got off to shaky start going 2-0 down before showing his magical touch to win 3-2.

Chris Hutchence (number two) had a long tough match coming from 2-1 down to take the match 3-2.

Chew Valley were great hosts on the night which made the long trek down there even more enjoyable.

Thornbury D team, in their fourth match of the season, at last managed a victory. It started with 3-0 wins for Mark Dalziel, Graham Dono and Bill Ellis putting them in an unassailable position.

This was followed by a very competitive 3-2 loss for Ian Johnson and a 3-0 defeat for Mick Dixon.

The final result was a 15-6 win over Redland Phoenix and lifting the team off the bottom of the Division 3 table.
