THORNBURY took two under-12s teams to the Wotton tournament on Sunday.
The blue team got off to a strong start against Westberries with goalkeeper Lily Scarbrough dealing well with the isolated shots which came her way.
As the tournament went on, the demands on Sophie Harper Audrey Stuart Menteth and Maya Bradley in defence increased but when they were able to link up with Connie Talbot, she was able to ask questions of the opposition and with the help of Laura Donaldson and Mina Tomkins they created several opportunities.
The red team were full of enthusiastic hockey players enjoying their first tournament with players finding their strongest positions in the team.
Sophie Vizard, Rose Alexander and Alice Atkinson troubled the opposition defence and had good support from Evie Ferragut and Izzie Talbot who put a lot of effort into midfield.
The back line consisted of Kayla Dracup Naomi Novak, Lillie Mac Isaac and Elenor Vollborth who made some strong tackles and they all worked hard together to keep out some more experienced teams out.
