De Cymru & The Marches 2

Wotton-under-Edge Men's 2nd XI (A) 3 Cardiff Uni B 0

AFTER a disappointing draw away to Lansdown last week, Wotton returned to their winning ways with three points against Cardiff Uni thirds.

Wotton started well, with lots of shots on goal from the attackers; however, these were all saved by the Cardiff keeper.

Eventually, Wotton’s efforts were rewarded, scoring a short corner with a straight hit into the bottom corner from James Bull.

Wotton continued to control the game, scoring another goal before half time. After good build-up play through the midfield from Sam Willcox, Ben Butter, Chris Price, Hayden Brewer, Callum Niddrie, and James Luton, a one-two around the keeper resulted in Harry Willcox converting into an open goal to make it 2-0.

Following a formation change in the second half, Cardiff started getting some opportunities for the first time in the game.

However, the defensive line of keeper Charlie Thomas and Bull, John Shovelton, Jonny Glover, Kieran Latimer, Steven Midex and Andy Stockley made sure nothing was converted.

Recognising that the new formation wasn’t working, Wotton returned to the original and started to dominate the play again. Wotton’s last goal was taken very similarly to the second - passing through the lines broke open the opposition’s defence for another Harry Willcox goal.

Overall, a very good performance as Wotton keep their unbeaten record, with only one goal conceded so far.
