Thornbury Town 8 Little Stoke 0

THORNBURY Town regained their four point lead at the top by hammering Little Stoke.

Only a couple of weeks ago, Little Stoke were the victors with an 8-0 win but have found themselves on the receiving end this time.

Toby Bennett gave Thornbury the lead with low free kick into the bottom corner on 30 minutes.

The home side went 2-0 on 39 minutes when Brandon Benjamin cut inside onto his left foot before curling a great shot into the far corner. with the score-line at 2-0 at half time and Little Stoke not out of this game nobody would have envisaged that the home side would score another six goals before the final whistle.

On 55 minutes Craig Lancastle tapped in Toby Bennett’s cross for the first of his three goal hall.

Marcus Wormwell slid the ball home at the near post from a Joe Guest cross for number four on 68 minutes, then Wormwell picked up a poor back pass to square the ball across goal for Lancstle’s second.

Toby Bennett then struck another superb free kick into the top corner and Lancastle completed his hat-trick with a header at the far post. The scoring was complete on 89 minutes when Toby Webb’s cross was deflected into the net by a Little Stoke defender.

Although the home side won the game well the visitors never gave up - but it was not their day.
