FOREST GREEN have issued an apology after rain-soaked Crewe Alexandra supporters left their designated away terrace to join home fans in the covered North Stand.
Torrential rain during the game saw drenched Crewe fans on the exposed West Stand open terrace, jump pitch-side barriers and join Rovers' fans in the covered home end.
A FGR spokesperson, said: “We apologise to our fans in the North Stand. The decision to move visiting fans was against our wishes, and we’re taking steps to ensure it does not happen again. CCTV footage of away fans entering the field of play has already been handed to Gloucestershire Constabulary who will work with colleagues from Cheshire Police to identify and ban any supporters who broke the law or ground regulations.
"The North Stand is for FGR fans. We have sympathy with away fans when the weather is bad and we’re looking to add a roof to the West Stand next season. In the meantime, away fans need to be prepared for inclement conditions.”
