FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper is hoping to get more signings over the line before tomorrow's home clash against Port Vale.

Having added defenders Farrend Rawson and Gavin Gunning from Derby County and Port Vale respectively, Cooper is working around the clock to bring in fresh faces to his squad.

Cooper said: “It’s been tough trying to get players in.

“It’s a very difficult window to work in because everybody is after good players and the position we find ourselves in is making it more difficult to attract players.

“We’ve got a couple done and we’re hoping for three or four more before the weekend.

“I think it was important to address the defensive situation and try and stop conceding as many goals so it was important to work from the back forward.

“I am pleased that we were able to bring them both in.

“Farrend is a big lad who we tried to get in the summer but we couldn’t quite get him there and he ended up going to Accrington where he has played in a team that has done really well.

“(Gavin’s) contract was up and Port Vale were desperate to keep him but I think there were a few issues there and we managed to nip in and show him how serious we were about getting him here.

“He was part of a Port Vale team that has had some brilliant results and kept some clean sheets since he’s been playing at the heart of the defence.

“It was an important area for us to shore up and with those two, I think it will definitely help us.”
