FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper feels his younger players are coming in for undeserved criticism.

On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Brad Collins and Charlie Cooper have come under the cosh this season, and the arrival of new signing Tahvon Campbell was met with disdain by a section of fans on social media.

"He (Tahvon Campbell) hasn't even laid a foot on the pitch and he is getting absolute pelters," said Cooper.

"I will get stick for what I'm going to say, but I just do not get how our young players get abused."

Campbell, signed on a season-long loan from Premier League West Brom on Friday, but answered his critics by stepping off the bench to hit Rovers' fifth goal in a 5-2 victory over Cambridge United.

"He is a young boy and desperate to prove that he can stay at West Brom next year or somebody offers him a contract," Cooper explained.

"He came on and looked very quick and the idea was to bring him on and stretch their defence in behind, and he did it perfectly.

"Apparently he can't score goals, well he scored in his first 15 minutes, so good luck to him and I hope feels really good about himself tonight."
