Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two

Falcons 2 Dursley Town 1

DURSLEY Town paid the price for a slow start to the second half as Falcons came from behind to claim the points following a real battle in the mud in Charlton Kings.

The home side had not won since thrashing Town 6-1 in the county cup in mid-October and found themselves on the back foot as the visitors got on top early on.

Nathan Vines blazed over when he ought to have given the away side the lead and, having been let off, Falcons came into the game and forced Keith Watson into three sharp saves.

Ten minutes before half-time, however, Tom Deakin and Jake Hawkins combined to set up Vines and this time the front man deftly clipped the ball beyond the goalkeeper for the opening goal.

However, Falcons dominated from the start of the second half and levelled when the ball fell kindly close in before Paul Lyon was penalised for a pull in the box and the resultant spot-kick put the hosts ahead.

Town rallied once they went behind, but they never quite carved out a clear chance to equalise and Watson remained the busier goalkeeper throughout.

Dursley: K Watson; J Dolbear, S Miles, M Workman, P Lyon; G Mack (P Miles 70), J Woodward, W Parry; T Deakin (L Wood 75), N Vines, A Griffith (J Hawkins 25).

Goals: Vines (35).
