Salisbury 6 Yate Town 2

YATE TOWN were well and truly hit for six against a very strong Salisbury team who clearly were on a rebound after their shock defeat at home to Barnstaple last weekend.

It was the Bluebells’ first defeat in 2018 and ended an unbeaten run of seven games.

Hopes and confidence were high as Yate travelled to the Ray Mac Stadium.

However Yate never really got going and Salisbury put them under pressure right from the kick-off.

It could have been worse for Yate with Salisbury missing numerous opportunities in front of goal.

Yate started the match with same team that played against Evesham which meant new signing Lewis Ellington and Kyle Tooze were on the bench.

Salisbury were 3-0 up at half-time, and soon put five into the Yate net.

If there is anything positive to take from this match, then it would be the last twenty minutes when the Bluebells scored twice and did open up the Salisbury defence. However, those goals from Stephen Davies and Ross Langworthy came when the game was already lost.

Now Yate face the challenge of runaway leaders Taunton Town at home on Saturday to return to winning ways.
