COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club’s new captain Andy Cocking took over the reigns in style this week by winning the Thoroughbread Trophy.
The stableford competition is always played before the club’s AGM by the outgoing captain, incoming captain, previous captains and Rod, the club’s professional.
Andy won with a score of forty points from Tony Mansfield 39.
All players enjoyed a meal together afterwards before Andy took over the captaincy from outgoing Captain, Gary Swift at the AGM. Seniors Captain Tony Wheeler was celebrating too by winning the Seniors Captain v Vice Captain Match 5-2.
The annual match is always played prior to start of the Seniors friendly matches against local clubs.
Tony Mansfield also did well in the Midweek Medal winning comfortably with a nett 68 ahead of Stuart Crabtree 71 and Vince Taylor 72.
Mary Kowalczyk took the honours in the ladies nine-hole stableford competition with 23 points from Dee Allen on count back from Ginny Atkinson both with 21.
