CITY needed their 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town last Saturday. Milan Djuric struck on 64 minutes for his first goal since October.

And the win has now put City back in with a chance of the Championship play-offs at the end of the season.

It was a relief for the worried fans as the drought of just two wins in the last 13 league matches meant that Lee Johnson’s side had gone from being right in the thick of it to on the fringes of the promotion stakes.

Had they drawn or lost, City would have been down to ninth in the table and going in the wrong direction.

So, now that the club have a weekend off, they can re-group ahead of a trip to Barnsley on Good Friday March 30 which is a big banana skin as the Tykes are fighting for their Championship lives.

Head coach Johnson may have some time on his hands before that trip to Yorkshire but, as ever, football is never quiet, particularly during the Spring.

Rumours are that Premier League clubs are sniffing around the Ashton Gate squad, with Bournemouth particularly paying attention to the goings-on at City.

Bobby Reid is thought to be on the Premier League radar – and not just by Bournemouth either.

So the coming weeks will be a test of City and Johnson’s resolve. When sides like Bournemouth come knocking and waving a lucrative contract, how can City react?

There is only one way which is to win, win and win again – and by doing that, Johnson can then ask Reid why he would want to move from a club which is going up to the top flight and where he is settled for another team where he will have to prove his reputation to the fans again?

Should City lose out on promotion, they could find themselves losing out on not just Reid but others in their squad and then it will be a case of finding fresh blood for a re-build towards the next campaign.
