YATE Town manager Paul Britton blasted his side after a woeful performance in defeat to Paulton Rovers in their Evo-Stik Southern West clash last Saturday, saying: “We are not good enough.”

And Britton made it crystal clear that, from a squad he hoped would be one to provide the foundations to build on next season, there are likely to be departures.

The pit of despair does not bode well for tonight’s game when Yate travel to Larkhall Athletic having taken four points out of 15 on offer since the start of the month.

Britton wandered around Paulton Rovers’ Winterfield Road pitch after the final whistle as he tried to understand how his side could be so inept in all areas of the game.

Former Bluebells Jack Ball, who scored the first of Paulton’s brace, Josh Morgan-Williams and Mitch Tippins had a field day against their old club, with Joe Guest grabbing their other goal.

And Yate’s dismal day was summed up when Matty Tanner should have scored from two yards as a rebounded drive fell to his feet only to scoop the ball over the bar with the home keeper helpless.

Britton could not hold back his anger, saying: “I am massively disappointed. I feel like they have let me down today.

“Normally it feels like a kick in the nuts with a game like that but I feel they have kicked me where it hurts today.

“We have had the conversation. There was a lack of passion, lack of desire, lack of ability at times. There are people who spend their money and come out to watch the games and we have not turned up for them today.

“The first goal was a terrible corner that bobbled along the line and three people have missed the ball before the player has scored,” added the Bluebells boss.
