Gloucestershire County League Division Two

Oldlands 132 all out lost to Shurdington 133 for 3 by seven wickets

ON a glorious day at Abwell, with a beautiful batting wicket on offer, the home side had no hesitation in taking first use on winning the toss, but were soon left to rue that decision at 0-2.

With a succession of wickets continuing to fall through poor judgement or shot selection, it was left to opener Brad Thomas (65 not out) to bring just a little respectability to the total.

The only real support coming from Doug Walton (21) and Tom Palmer (26) as the rest of the home batting line up surrendered very tamely.

In response, chasing a total that was probably a century short of par, the visitors were always in control, despite an early run out and a wicket each for Pete Waite and Palmer.

Oldlands travel to Chipping Sodbury on Saturday already finding themselves in a struggle at the bottom of the table.
