DURSLEY Running Club's Bank Holiday weekend was focussed on the club's Tri-Team at the Westonbirt Triathlon, with the event the culmination of months of training for the athletes.

On the trails, the runners continued to pack in the Marathons.

Lee Masters running the Dorchester Marathon and 'as usual a great event', according to him, with White Star organising for the Rotary Club.

Masters was 333rd in a time 04:52:39. Kate Browning’s and Rachel Brown completed the Neolithic Marathon in provisional times of 04:17:52, and 04:51:24 respectively. Browning continues to move closer to her target of 100 marathons whilst Brown used the event as training for the Race to the Tower.

Seventeen DRC athletes were at the Westonbirt Arboretum 10K on Wednesday, after successfully encouraging more entries this year and trialling a new registration system the organisers struggled to cope and the start was delayed.

This did not stop DRC from having flying feet around the course.

It is not a superfast 10K with lots of twists and turns and a couple of rises to get over. Richard Hogg lead the DRC home in 44:05, with Chris Sweet just 32 seconds behind. Mike Thomas and Neil Truelove battled it out for second place for the club, Mike just 10 seconds ahead on gun time Catherine Faye was hot on their heels as the first DRC woman to finish in a time of 54:04.

Claire Searle was sixth F50-plus and Truelove was seventh Over-50.

Saturday saw the majority of DRC parkrunners at Kingsway where Joe Ball lead DRC home in 20:22, with Trish Mansell first woman home with a PB of 23:49, fastest DRC woman parkrunner, and she topped the DRC age grading for the weekend with a 66.06 per cent age grade.

Joining her with PB at Kingsway were Vicci Phillips and Leigh Allen, at Thornbury picking up a best was Emily Harding, whilst Eileen Efford also PB’d at Wotton.
