NEWPORT County AFC have made their second signing of the day with former Forest Green Rovers winger Keanu Marsh-Brown agreeing a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old was released by County’s League Two rivals last month after three seasons.

Like Charlie Cooper, who joined the Exiles on a one-year loan from Forest Green earlier today, Marsh-Brown helped the Nailsworth outfit secure promotion to the Football League for the first time in 2017.

The 6ft 1ins winger came through the ranks at Premier League sides Arsenal and Fulham, going on to sign professional terms with the Cottagers in 2009.

He had loan spells at MK Dons and Dundee United before going on to play for Oldham Athletic, Yeovil Town and Barnet.

Marsh-Brown was part of a National League winning side when helping the Bees secure the title in 2015, joining Forest Green Rovers immediately after promotion and remaining with them until this move to the Exiles.

At international level, Marsh-Brown has been capped at England C level on three occasions after playing for the Three Lions under-16s and under-17 sides.

On joining the club, he said: “I'm delighted to sign for Newport County AFC. “I spoke to the manager quite a lot throughout the summer and he showed a lot of interest in me and I feel like it is the correct decision for me at this point in my career.

"I just want to get my head down and play as many games as I can. I want to do well for this team and hopefully help them push as high up the table as possible.

"The manager gives me a lot of confidence and he knows what he wants from me next season. That was the main reason that I wanted to sign."

Exiles boss Michael Flynn said: “I’m very excited about Keanu signing. “He’s one of those players who gets the fans on the edge of their seats.

“He has a promotion under his belt with Forest Green and we all remember that outstanding goal he scored [in the 2016 National League play-off final].

“He’s at the right age and as long as he gets his head down and works hard I’m sure he’ll kick on and play at a higher level.”
