WEEK six of the Slimbridge Summer Skittle League saw the Bowmen surprise the Geriatrics with a narrow two-pin victory.

With Kelvin Summers commencing with a 12-spare the Geriatrics started strongly, however taking the next two legs saw the Bowmen claw themselves back into the game. Trailing by seven-pins after six legs, the Geriatrics looked to have taken the half; however the Bowmen never gave up, taking the final two legs and pinching a two-pin first half advantage.

With Anthony Jellings hitting a 13-spare the Geriatrics won the first two legs of the second half and looked set to take the game as they opened up a 17-pin lead.

However the game changed on the fifth leg as Alan Dimery, who scored 65, hit a 14-spare for the Bowmen as they clawed back 11-pins to trail by just five-pins.

Taking the sixth leg the Bowmen took a slender lead, however a low scoring seventh leg appeared to have cost them the game.

With a leg apiece in the final two legs, the half was tied giving the Bowmen their third victory for the season.

The Alley Gators remain top of the table after a 37-pin victory over The Dons.

Despite the former taking two of the first three legs it was the Alley Gators who took control, taking the next five legs to open up a 25-pin advantage.

In a game without any spares the winners took the first two legs of the second half to extend their advantage further. With Darren Noble hitting 57, The Dons took the next three legs to narrow the lead.

However, with Julian Powell scoring 65, the winner had enough to take the half by 12-pins. Shake Hands moved into second spot after a 33-pin victory over the Cambridge Crew. The winners were in control of the first half from the start with Martin Livall opening with a 13-spare.

Despite Dave Stayte hitting 60 for the Cambridge Crew they trailed by 21-pins at the end of the first half.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Robert Sims hit 67 for the winners, his total commencing with an 11-spare. Despite Cambridge Crew taking the second and final legs the victors held firm to increase their margin on victory by 12-pins.

Snorts FC remain in fourth after a 10-pin victory over Slimbridge RBL. The winners held a slender four-pin advantage going into the fifth leg, with each team winning two legs. However with Gareth Markey scoring 64, his total including a 14-spare, the former held on, taking three of the final four legs to hold an eight-pin first half advantage.

The second half saw Slimbridge RBL fight back however despite winning four of the first five legs they only held a two-pin lead.

With John Handley hitting 62 for Slimbridge RBL it looked possible that they could pick up their third win for the season, however Snorts FC held firm, taking two of the final three legs to win the half by two-pins.
