PLAYER recruitment and retention is a key focus for Thornbury RFC as the preparations for the 2018/19 season began on Saturday with a strong rugby club presence at the Thornbury Carnival.
Spreading the word is the concept as Thornbury look to raise its profile in the community. As well as hand-outs there will be information about the club, its history, coaching philosophy and its teams which include three senior mens team and a senior ladies side with mini and junior teams from six to seventeen plus a colts team.
The club are also looking to establish girls rugby teams, and anyone interested in finding out should head to the rugby club in Rockhampton next Saturday (July 14).
It is open to girls aged ten and over, and they should aim to be at the rugby club from 10am for a 10:30am start. There will be opportunities to meet the coaches, join in the sessions and, most importantly, have some fun.
