Almondsbury seconds
ALMONDSBURY pulled off an unlikely victory on Saturday thanks to to a commanding century from skipper Gary Goodwin. Hambrook batted first and took advantage of a depleted Almondsbury bowling attack plundering 275-4 off their allotted overs.
Josh Lax scored an undefeated 110 for the visitors and he received good support from Lee Dyer with 56. Matt Smith returned tight figures of 9-0-24-2 with Chris Slave taking 1-43.
In Reply, Skipper Goodwin and Tom Burgess were soon on the case keeping the run rate up at 6 an over.
Club Chairman Burgess eventually fell for a fine 39 but the innings did not lose momentum as Goodwin found solid support from the reliable Kyle Hartigan.
Loose deliveries were clinically dispatched by the Almondsbury batsmen and when Goodwin reached his century with fine shot off his legs for 4, Almondsbury were well on their way.
Goodwin made 116 before he was bowled by Woolard. However, he was replaced by Sam Robertson who smashed 46 off 25 balls to leave Almondsbury victors with 3 overs to spare.
