ON Thursday, July 12 at the Thornbury 10k, Dursley Running Club had 51 runners on the start line and 21 runners in the top ten of their categories at the end of the evening, writes David Durden.

Matt Read was the first runner home for DRC in 41:49, with Alice Lewis first Dursley woman to finish.

DRC had five category winners - Kevin Jackson, Tony Wooldridge, Graham Tudor, Alice Lewis and Eileen Hieron.

Steve Barnes was 2nd M60 while Andy Probert and Annette Heylings were third in their categories.

Veronica Higgins and Julie Gowing both ran personal bests, Nicki Cowle set a course best paced by Steve Rugman. Georgia Whitlock ran a second 10k PB.

Jon Tudor was very pleased with his 25th overall. He was fourth home for the club behind Read, Jackson and Wooldridge.

u ENGLAND’S semi-final appearance meant only three DRC athletes turned out at the second event Midsummer Open Series.

James Durden achieved PBs at both 400m (64.8) and 800m (02:27.30).

Jess Smith cleared 1:25 in the High Jump and almost cleared 1:30. She then ran well in the 200m, coming third in her heat (31.2).

In the 3000m, David Durden ran a personal best of 11:01.7 and managed another best at 400 (67.1).

At Race 2 of the Club Handicap on Tuesday, July 10, Jeff Pearce was first home and followed by Tara Truman.

Zoe Lamerton was quickest woman (25: 11), with three men going under 22 minutes - Mike Crompton was the quickest (21:09).

u AT Wotton Parkrun, Claire Searle sneaked her 50th run and managed a PB to double the celebration.

Also celebrating was Robyn Jackson whose chose to run a park run PB of 18:38 on her birthday with an Age Grade of 79.43.

It was a good morning for personal bests, with Keith Garner, Matthew Davies, Huw Poppy, Tel Cother and Amanda Hensman joining Seale and Jackson with PBs

Highest male age grade result went to Jake Mathews (Junior) with 68.25%.
