Charlton Kings 110 all out

C Sodbury win by one wicket.

MASON Poole took centre stage as Chipping Sodbury pulled off aone-wicket win at Charlton Kings to move back up to fourth in Division One of the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League, writes Steve Hill.

The all-rounder (4-25) shone with the ball and combined with Ben Waldron (3-48) and skipper Jamie Rendell (2-21) to dismiss the home side for 110.

Sodbury found themselves on the ropes at 96-9 before Poole took charge with an unbeaten 23, with James Luscombe providing vital support at the other end.

u SODBURY 2nds were squeezed out by six runs at home to Shurdington in Division Two.

Sam Vile (3-42) was the pick of the attack as the visitors were restricted to 224-8. In reply, Sodbury were on the back foot at 109-6 before Craig Dyer (72) and Reece Packer (35) gave the home side hope, only for Shurdington to close out the game after Craig Scully had earlier hit 38.

u SODBURY 3rds endured a tough day away to Taveners, suffering a nine-wicket setback in Division Seven of the Bristol & District League, but Sodbury 4ths romped in by six wickets at home to YMCA in Division 15.

Captain Jamie Pearson (3-32), Alex Cummins (2-43) and Tony Garton (0-21 from seven) pegged the visitors back to 211-7 before Sodbury raced to their target in less than 29 overs.

Sam Makepeace walloped 109 off just 54 balls, including 16 fours and four sixes, while Pearson was unbeaten on a more sedate 48 as his side wrapped up their fourth win of the summer.

u SODBURY are hosting a special match in memory of Jim Kendall Senior on Friday, July 20 at 6.15pm. A team of old boys will take on a Sodbury XI .
