TARYN Roberts, sister of Thornbury runner Dylan, was awarded a third-price prize by Bristol’s greatest long-distance runner, Nick Rose, who sounded the horn to start this year’s Thornbury 10k on July 12, writes Matt Johnstone.

The undulating course features the testing climb over Sundayshill Lane, before heading back to Thornbury Rugby Club through Rockhampton village.

Maciej Bialogonski maintained Bristol & West AC’s stranglehold on the men’s race by winning in a time of 34:02 mins with a winning margin of almost four minutes.

The women’s race was won by Westbury Harrier’s Sophie Voller in 40:48 minutes.

Thornbury’s Dylan Roberts continued his run of good form by finishing fourth overall in a field of 316 runners in 38:40 minutes.

Taryn finished third in the women’s field and 19th overall.

Laura Orna was one place behind Taryn in fourth place and 29th overall in 44:47 minutes.

The team prize was awarded to the top-four men and top-three women from each club.

Thornbury’s first four men across the line were Dylan Roberts, Paul Harrod (12th in 41:19 mins), Ben Foss (28th in 44:46 mins), and Martin Coyle (34th in 45:07 mins) and they swept all before them in taking first place.

Thornbury’s women also had great success in finishing second overall. Alongside Taryn and Laura there was Sarah Newnes who was 135th in 54:10 minutes.
